We were very lucky to stay in a beautiful cabin overlooking this lovely, peaceful pond over Columbus Day weekend.  The colors were gorgeous, and even when the sky clouded over, the changes in lighting made the colorful landscape that much more interesting!  I had a great time painting on-site, and I’m continuing to explore this abstract-leaning autumnal theme now that I’m back home in my studio.

Clouds over a Fall Landscape, Mini Study

On our drive out to the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts last week, the cloud formations were incredible.  The scene in this mini painting is inspired by those clouds and the fall landscape that we are so lucky to experience this time of year.  I’m thinking about using this as a study for a larger painting sometime down the road.

Weeping Willow Memories

When I was little, we had a huge, hundred-year-old weeping willow tree in our backyard.  I always see it in my mind, in my memories of playing outside with my brother and our neighborhood friends during the summertime.  I love weeping willows…there’s a peaceful magic to them.  This little tonal study was painted from a reference photo from my BFF and HP, Matt Lebovic — thanks for all the great photos, HP!!
